I was fortunate to be invited to the lunch time Christmas carol service at St Martins in the Fields today. The weather was icy cold, Trafalgar square was bustling, the light was fantastic almost yellow ( the way it looks before it starts to snow, which it didn’t ). The service was beautiful and the choir heavenly, but I just couldn’t take my eyes off what is knows as the ‘new East window’ which depicts a cross reflected in water. So modern yet so spiritual.Designed by an Iranian female ( born and bred who move to the UK in 1973), it’s what London is all about: cosmopolitan, daring, forward, traditional, interesting, special. Worth a visit if you are fortunate enough to be in central London.
